there I be, 2009. sentient bean flyer by jeremy nguyen

I've been writing sketch comedy since I was 8 years old. Somewhere between recreating segments from the Higgins Boys & Gruber and being freaked out by the Kids in the Hall I started forming my own sense of funny.

I started performing comedy with Talking Monkeys, the (former) official improv troupe of the Ohio State University. As a school-funded organization, Talking Monkeys allowed performers to experiment in short and long-form improvisation, sketch pieces, and video monstrosities.

I was at the first open mic at the Sentient Bean coffee house in Savannah and performed every month for 2 years.  I built up material that lead to feature performances at the Live Wire Music Hall, Club One (home venue of the Lady Chablis), and the Indigo Arts Center.

I currently perform stand-up around Los Angeles and have appeared at places like The Silverlake Lounge, The Laugh Factory, The Lab at The Improv, The Comedy Store, The Joint, LAFF HUFFER, Ha-Ha Cafe, Skurtch and that one bris when I barfed on stage.

Occasionally I get to do my comedy on the road, like this recent show back in Savannah.

Thanks: S. Gray/M. Lawson for the 2010 clips & The Boyers/Nick Agich for the 2011 vids!
